On 30th of June Citrix released a lot of new updates to their existing products. One of them is new Feature Pack 2 for XenApp/XenDesktop 7.6. It was already announced during Citrix Synergy 2015 in Orlando.
You can download Feature Pack 2 from the below link:
You have to log in with you MyCitrix account to be able to download. Additionally you might need to contact Customer Services to get access to e.g. Platinum Edition.
New Feature Pack 2 includes the following updates:
- new StoreFront 3 and Citrix Receivers – I wrote about that in my previous post:
- HDX with Framehawk – new version of ICA/HDX protocol that greatly improves the user experience on corporate wireless connections, which are prone to packet loss and latency issues. The first release of Framehawk is for delivering a better-than-native user experience to Windows devices. Framehawk support for other device types such as Apple iPad—and interoperability with NetScaler Gateway for remote worker use cases—is planned for later this year. This works of course only with new versions of Citrix Receiver and XenApp/XenDesktop 7.6
- HDX RealTime Optimization Pack 1.8 – improves delivery of unified communication solutions like Skype for Business and Lync to BYO and mobile devices, including Mac, Windows and Linux. The Citrix HDX RealTime Optimization Pack 1.8 provides IT with a scalable solution that lowers overall latency and bandwidth consumption while improving video performance. This is a must for anyone who has Lync in his production environment.
- Linux Virtual Desktops – new great feature that will allow now to deliver applications powered by Linux. For the first-time ever, XenApp extends support to hosted shared Linux virtual desktops, enabling specialized Linux applications—particularly from industries such as oil and gas, manufacturing and media—to be accessed from Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Chrome devices. The new feature supports SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 SP3 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6.
Only Enterprise and Platinum edition contains all above updates. In case you use Advanced Edition you will be able to download new StoreFront 3, new Receiver clients and Framehawk components. More information here:
